Websec was a sponsor of the ISACA Victoria Chapter's Springboard Conference 2026, held on March 27, 2026 in the Michèle Pujol Room at the University of Victoria. Springboard is the chapter's flagship professional development event, connecting students and emerging professionals with industry leaders across cybersecurity, IT audit, governance, risk, and digital trust.
Roberto Salgado on AI Security
Roberto Salgado, Websec's CEO and co-founder, delivered a session titled AI Is a Double-Edged Sword. The talk, also given earlier this year at the 2026 Library IT Conference, walked the audience through what AI actually changes in day-to-day security work, where the real risks are when organisations integrate AI into their services, and the practical steps teams can take to benefit from the technology without being caught off guard by it.
Why Springboard Matters
Springboard is purpose-built for the people who are early in their careers and trying to figure out where they fit, and it pairs that audience with practitioners who can speak honestly about what the work actually looks like. Events like this are where the field renews itself. Giving students and new professionals a room where they can ask real questions, hear from people doing the work, and leave with a clearer sense of direction is concretely useful, and ISACA Victoria has consistently built one of the better versions of that event on the Island.
Thanks to the Organisers
Thanks to ISACA Victoria Chapter for the invitation and for putting the day together, and to everyone who stayed after Roberto's talk to keep the conversation going.
