Websec's Roberto Salgado Presents Pentesting with AI at OWASP Victoria
Websec CEO Roberto Salgado was a guest speaker at OWASP Victoria's AI-Driven Testing and Quantum Security evening at UVic on June 19, 2025, presenting Pentesting with AI alongside Kyle Loree's talk on quantum computing and its implications for modern cybersecurity.
Websec CEO and co-founder Roberto Salgado was invited back to the OWASP Victoria chapter as a guest speaker on June 19, 2025. The evening, titled AI-Driven Testing and Quantum Security, ran from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM PDT in Room C116 of the David Strong Building at the University of Victoria.
Pentesting with AI
Roberto's talk, Pentesting with AI, walked the room through how generative tools are genuinely changing offensive security work: where the speedups are real, where the output still needs a skilled operator to interpret it, and how the threat model shifts when both attackers and defenders are running AI in the loop. The session was grounded in what actually works today rather than speculation.
Quantum and What You Need to Know
The evening also featured Kyle Loree, whose talk Quantum and What You Need to Know examined the implications of quantum computing for cybersecurity, including the practical questions organisations should be asking now about post-quantum cryptography and long-term data risk.
A Strong Pairing of Topics
AI and quantum are two of the most-hyped topics in the field, and they rarely share a bill without devolving into marketing. Pairing a practitioner's take on AI-assisted pentesting with a grounded discussion of quantum risk made for an unusually useful evening.
Thanks to the OWASP Victoria chapter for the invitation, to Kyle for the great co-bill, and to everyone who came out and asked sharp questions. We will see you at the next one.
